Pulpy, juicy, tarty, and orangish pink in color is how we all know peaches to be. A native of China, this fruit is now grown and cultivated in many regions of the world. It has a pleasant aroma and a single seed inside which is inedible. Peaches are used for fruit salads, fruit cocktails, pie, baklava, charlottes, tart, desserts, jams and jellies, and not tot forget the delicious Peach Melba! Rich in antioxidants, peaches help in slowing down the ageing process and helps in resistance for various diseases. Fresh peaches also have vitamin C, vitamin A and beta carotene that help in improving vision and prevention of lung and cavity cancers. They are rich in many vital minerals such as potassium, fluoride and iron. Iron is required for red blood cell formation. Fluoride is a component of bones and teeth and is important for prevention of dental caries. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that help regulate heart rate and blood pressure. Now that you know so much about peaches, start having them right away!
